Wildlife safari in Uganda

Wildlife safari in Uganda : Interested in wildlife safaris in Uganda? You’re in for a treat! Known as the Pearl of Africa, Uganda boasts stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, rich cultures, and a favorable climate due to its proximity to the equator.

One of the main attractions of wildlife safaris in Uganda is the opportunity to trek and observe rare mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. Two key places to experience this are Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. It’s important to book your wildlife safari in Uganda at least 4 months in advance, depending on the experience you’re seeking.

How to make a safari booking in Uganda

Gorilla trekking

To participate in a gorilla trekking safari, you’ll need to obtain a gorilla trekking permit, which should be booked 4 months in advance. This permit allows you to trek to see the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga National Park. Bwindi Forest is particularly recommended for gorilla trekking, as it has four sectors hosting 21 gorilla families.

During the gorilla trekking experience, travelers are given one hour with the mountain gorillas, while the gorilla habituation encounter allows up to 4 hours. It’s advisable to book 5 to 6 hours in advance of your departure date to ensure you can trek in the best sectors of Bwindi, such as the Buhoma sector. Permits for Buhoma sector are in high demand, so early booking is recommended.

In addition to gorilla trekking, other Uganda safari activities, such as wildlife encounters in Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda city tour safaris, and Uganda African cultural safaris, also require advance booking for the best experience.

Cost of Uganda safari

The cost of Uganda safari booking varies depending on the activities and permits. For instance, a gorilla trekking permit costs $800, while a gorilla habituation permit costs $1500.
