Gorilla trekking is a guided hike in the rain forest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in search of mountain gorilla families. The activity is enjoyed in a group of 8 people who are allowed one hour experience with the gorilla family. It is paramount note that Gorilla trekking is carried out in the four sectors of Bwindi Forest such as; the Buhoma in northern part of Bwindi with 4 habituated families, Ruhija found in the eastern part of Bwindi Forest with 4 habituated families, Rushaga in the southern part with 8 habituated gorilla families and Nkuringo in the southern part of the forest with 3 habituated gorilla families. Whilst as Mgahinga gorilla National Park has one habituated group known as Ntebeke family, you can as well go gorilla trekking in this park.

The gorilla trekking permit is a document allowing people to see the Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitats which have flourished thousand years in the jungles of the rain forest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This permit can only be bought at the Uganda Wildlife Authority and can be picked from the head office by tourists or by the help of a licensed tour operator.

How to book a gorilla permit.

Gorilla trekking permit availability can be checked for individuals, group tours and companies. Bwindi Forest has 21 gorilla families to trek daily therefore 168 gorilla permits are available for sell on a daily basis.
