10 DAYS BIRDING THE ALBERTINE RIFT ENDEMICS.
This 10 day birding safari takes you to Albertine Rift Valley a haven for most endemic and
globally threatened species of birds. The Albertine Rif valley includes Mgahinga gorilla,
Semliki, Rwenzori, and Bwindi impenetrable forest National parks. There are 25 species
endemic to the Albertine Rift these include handsome francolin, Rwenzori Turaco, stripe-
breasted tit, Grauer's broadbill, red-throated alethe, dwarf honey guide, black-faced Apalis,
Rwenzori Apalis, Grauer's warbler, Neumann warbler, red-faced woodland warbler, yellow-eyed
black flycatcher, Rwenzori batis, purple breasted sunbird, strange weaver, dusky crimson and
many more.
Day 1: pickup and birding in Entebbe Botanical Gardens
Upon arrival, you will be picked up by an experienced birder driver guide from Jeisking Tours,
he will take you through the itinerary and proceed to the hotel for lunch. Later in the evening go
birding at Entebbe Botanical Gardens. Likely to be spotted bird species include the Pink-backed
Pelican, Yellow-billed Stork, Eastern Grey Plantain-eater, Yellow White-eye, Purple-banded
Sunbird, African Jacana, Lesser Jacana, Yellow-billed Duck, Glossy Ibis. Back to the hotel for
dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Your driver guide will pick you up after breakfast and embark on a scenic drive to Mgahinga
Gorilla National Park in Kisoro with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch. Enjoy the sceneries of
Kigezi's rolling hills, and check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Birding in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Wake up at 6 am for breakfast and proceed for birding at 7 am. Enjoy birding in Uganda’s most
protected scenic area in kisoro western Uganda. Bird through various montane habitats in search
for the Rwenzori Turaco, dwarf honey guide, kivu ground thrush, cinnamon bracken and
mountain yellow warblers, archers robin-chat, regal and purple breasted sunbird, Shelley’s
crimson wing among others. Back to the lodge for lunch, and relaxation watching out for
different bird species around the lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and community
Have a leisurely breakfast and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Check-in,
have lunch, and visit the famous Batwa communities. You will get to know about their lifestyle
and cuisine, listen to their stories, and learn more from them. Back to the lodge, dinner, and
overnight

Destination: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Day 5: Birding in Mubwindi swamp
Early morning breakfast to warm up the day and proceed for birding in Mubwindi swamp. This
section in Bwindi harbors over 23 highly localized Albertine rift endemics and these include
cassins grey flycatcher, montane oriole, northern double-collared sunbird, white-naped raven,
dusky Crimsonwing,, yellow-billed waxbill, black-billed turaco, African wood owl, red chested
owlet, African broad bill, white billed robin chat, rush warbler, red-faced woodland warbler,
equatorial akalat, archers ground robin, dusky tit, Mackinnon’s fiscal, Waller’s starling, streaky
seedeater among others. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Rwenzori Mountains National Park
Have breakfast and then proceed to the scenic drive to the Mountains of the Moon with a route
lunch in Kasese. Check-in and set up your tents for a night.

Day 7: Birding in Rwenzori
Breakfast first and proceed for a hike through forests in search of different bird species including
Rwenzori Turaco, illadopsis, blue-headed sunbird, Rwenzori batis, slender-billed starlings,
lammergeyer’s, and strange weaver birds you will also see the rare three-horned chameleon.
Camp at Nyabitaba, have lunch, dinner, and overnight.

Day 8: Descend and transfer to Semliki National Park
Have breakfast and descend from Nyabitaba looking out for missed bird species. Your driver
guide will then transfer you to Semliki National Park the only lowland tract and home to female
and male hot springs. Lunch in Fort Portal, upon arrival check-in and dinner, and retire for a
night.

Day 9: birding in Semliki National Park
After breakfast, Bird the kirumia trail looking for predominantly central African species that
cannot be found anywhere else in East Africa such as lyre-tailed honey guide, the black casqued
wattled, piping red-billed dwarf, red-throated alethe, red-eyed puff back, northern beared scrub
robin, capped wheatear, Congo serpent eagle, swamp palm bulbul, spotted greenbul, Abyssinian
ground thrush, oberlaenders ground, little grey greenbul, yellow-throated nicator, Toro olive,
mountain greenbul among others. You will visit the hot springs, and cook eggs from their
enjoying Africa's natural sauna.
Dinner and overnight.

Day 10: departure
After breakfast, leave the park proceeding to Entebbe International Airport or our hotel.
