Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Welcome to Rwanda

Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide. After a short safari briefing, transfer to your elegant hotel in Kigali for relaxation after your flight. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a Kigali city tour, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, and craft centers for a glimpse into Rwanda’s past and present.

In the evening, enjoy a fine dining experience featuring contemporary Rwandan cuisine before retiring for the night.

Day 2: Kigali Cultural Experience – Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, spend the morning exploring Rwanda’s vibrant culture. Visit the Inema Arts Center, a creative hub for local artists, and the Kigali Cultural Village, where you can interact with artisans and learn about traditional crafts.

After lunch, depart for Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah reserve and home to the Big Five. The scenic 2.5-hour drive reveals beautiful rolling hills and rural life. Arrive at your luxury lodge overlooking Lake Ihema and enjoy a serene evening surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Safari on Lake Ihema

Rise early for a morning game drive through Akagera’s savannah plains, woodlands, and wetlands. Spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes as the sun illuminates the park’s golden grasslands.

Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, then embark on an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Glide through calm waters as hippos grunt and crocodiles bask on the shores. The lake is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to fish eagles, herons, and the striking African jacana.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Akagera before departing for Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The journey (approximately 5–6 hours) takes you through breathtaking countryside — rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and charming villages.

Arrive in Musanze, the gateway to the Virunga Volcanoes, and check in at your luxurious lodge surrounded by misty mountains. Unwind by the fireplace and enjoy a delicious dinner in the cool mountain air.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park – Cultural Visit

After an early breakfast, proceed to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Led by experienced rangers, venture into the lush rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours, but once you find them, the experience is truly magical — observing their behavior and social interactions up close.

After your trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll engage with local communities, watch traditional dances, and learn about Rwanda’s ancient customs and legends.
