7-day birding safari

This 7-day birding safari takes you to Mabamba wetland, Lake Mburo, and Queen Elizabeth
National Park. It will be led by an experienced birding guide with varied experience and
knowledge, birding will take place in different places like swamps, rivers and lakes, forests, and
open savanna grasslands as you discover Uganda the birding paradise of Africa.

Day 1: Arrival and pickup

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by our driver guide and
proceed to your hotel for meals and overnight.

Day 2: Birding in Entebbe

After breakfast, proceed to Uganda Wildlife Education Center looking for superb sun, olive-
bellied, Gabor goshawk, lizard buzzard, green throated and collard sunbird, slender-billed, ashy
flycatcher, great blue Turaco and green crombec. Lunch at the botanical gardens and spend the
evening relaxing along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 3: Birding in Mabamba wetland

Have breakfast and proceed to Mabamba swamp purposely for the rare shoebill stork and
other water birds. You will be able to spot white-shouldered tit, red cap, western banded snake
eagle, a variety of egrets, sitatunga Antelope, purple heron, white-winged warbler, jacanas,
weyns weaver, papyrus gonolek, purple gallinule, malachite kingfisher, and yellow-billed duck.
Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park, a stopover at the Equator for photography, lunch, and
refreshments then proceed and check in at Arcadia Cottage, have dinner, and retire for a night.

Day 4: Birding in Lake Mburo National Park

Breakfast then morning game viewing and birding in the grassland focusing on the brown
chested plover, crested francolin, red-headed weaver, red-faced barbet, and mammals like
impala, zebra, eland, giraffes, and other wildlife.
Have lunch and head for a boat cruise to find the African fin foot. Back to the lodge dinner and
rest for a night.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have a leisurely breakfast and Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, go for an afternoon
boat cruise on Kazinga channel and expect to see hippos, crocodiles, water birds like the
seasonal African skimmer, and African spoonbill among others. Have dinner at Mweya safari
lodge and retire for a night.

Day 6: Birding in Queen Elizabeth National Park

This entire day will be used to search for savannah birds like the blue quail, the common small
button quail, the sparrow hawk, the greater and lesser flamingo, the African skimmer, and
verreauxs eagle owl among others, and meet mammals like the tree climbing lions by chance,
spotted hyena, buffaloes, leopard also by chance, the African elephant among others

Accommodation: Mweya safari lodge

Day 7: Departure

Have breakfast early in the morning at Mweya Safari Lodge, a game drive in the Ishasha sector
of the park hoping to spot tree-climbing lions, and then drive back to Entebbe International
Airport or your hotel.
